Official Call to Action

It’s funny how one can plan to go in one direction but is lead to go down another path.  While I was admiring the beauty in natural things and expressing gratitude for being able to enjoy those things without having to manipulate them into something else people around the world, more specifically, Jussie Smollett, was experiencing anything but natural beauty.

What kind of times do we live in that people cannot respect the beauty of another person enough to let them be; that they have to be so judgmental that their actions are regressive.  In the year of two thousand and nineteen, hate crimes and lynch acts are more than historical acts. I read an article written by CNN Entertainment about Jussie Smollett being involved in a hate crime that involved two individuals that were “yelling out racial and homophobic slurs”.  They also poured something on him and tied a noose around his neck.  An unknown source says that he was being threatened before this actually happened.  This entire issue makes my heart and stomach hurt.  To think…there are actually people out there saying this entire thing is a lie.  Where is the compassion?

It is really time that some people grow up.  Why is this level of hate still being taught?  Why hate at all?  It all goes back to the scenario of if you don’t look like me or think like me then I have a problem with the way you exist.  Just because someone doesn’t move the way that you do should not mean you get a pass to be nasty, vicious, or violent.  People should be comfortable enough to be themselves, to express themselves, to live their lives without feeling like there is a chance that they may be penalized for it.

It’s sad that we have to create a call to actions for people to grow up, but here we are.  Here is the official call to action: GROW UP and follow the lesson hopefully taught in your home as a kid, if you don’t have anything nice to say about someone say nothing.  This applies to how you use your body parts and actions against another person.  We are ALL human beings who deserve the same kind of respect, regardless of gender or affiliation and if you aren’t able to give respect then bow out gracefully.  Stay away.  Leave the individual alone, especially if they are not bothering you.  How does hearing about what happened to Jussie Smollett make you feel?
